About Us

Our Beginning

The 2016 Martin Luther King’s Day celebration organized by the Inter-faith Clergy Alliance of South County was the impetus to start an inter-faith lay group. On February 4th, 2016 a group of dedicated individuals from diverse faith communities met to organize and launch the Interfaith CommUNITY of South County that became known as ICSC.

Who We Are

ICSC is committed to creating compassionate communities through educational, social, and service programs

Inclusive

ICSC is open to all faiths and denominations

Education

ICSC promotes understanding through “Faith of Our Neighbors”, an educational program open to the public in the “home” of one of our faith communities. In this setting, the clergy and lay leaders of the hosting community teach about their faith while guests have an opportunity to ask questions

Social Action

Our Interfaith Community emphasizes our common American values of freedom, liberty and justice for all by celebrating Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King Day, the Fourth of July and Memorial Day together with the Interfaith Clergy Alliance.

ICSC has responded to acts of hatred and bullying targeting religious and social minorities. We supported the local Muslim community in its struggle to establish its worship site. Together with our clergy we stood in support of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian worshipers after worship site shootings in California, Pittsburgh, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. We stood in solidarity with our Asian brothers and sisters victimized by horrific and hateful acts.

Community Service

The ICSC community is a key partner in the Morgan Hill Safe Car Project since its inception. This pilot program provides meals to unhoused families during the COVID-19 pandemic. ICSC also provides various supplies needed for the families in the Project. In addition, we provide support to multiple charity organizations like, but not limited to, Edward Boss Prado Foundation, Saint Joseph Family Center, Gilroy Compassion Center, Home First, and Saint Catherine’s Reach Out Food Pantry program. The ICSC Steering Committee meets the fourth Monday of each month hosted by one of the 18 faith organizations (Zoom meetings during the COVID-19 period).
